Remember That Everyone Is Trying Their Best (Even Though They Might Have A History of Being Annoying)
Welcome to the beginning of another work week. A week of possibilities, opportunity and productivity.
It’s also another week of dealing with people.
This week, especially when engaging with your colleagues, try to remember that everyone is trying their best to get the job done.
I would highly doubt colleagues wake up in the morning and develop plans to sabotage the day.
And, yes, I get it.
I have been in countless meetings, listening to people and wondering what the actual agenda is because it wasn’t what was planned or best for the organization.
It’s annoying. It’s frustrating. It’s counterproductive.
At the end of the day, you can’t control that. But, you can control how you respond to others and how you approach situations.
This week, be purposeful with your interactions.
Listen to your colleagues.
Seek for understanding.
Try to look at the situations from multiple perspectives.
Be aware of your biases when you’re engaging in conversations.
And, remember: everyone is trying to do their best on their own terms. Maybe you’re response isn’t about their work efforts but about something that impacts you, your work, and your expectations.
